Save the Date for the Panoway Ribbon Cutting on July 13On July 13, join us for a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the completion of the Panoway Lakewalk and docks! More details coming soon. The dock contractor has completed the majority of the installation of the new Depot dock and have moved on to the construction of the Broadway dock. Click on the photo above to see the latest flyover! The contractors will begin installing the railings on top of the boardwalk stucture next week. The lake walk and new dock systems are planned to be open for use by Memorial Day.

Celebrate Earth Day on Panoway The City of Wayzata Energy & Environment Committee will hold an Earth Day event on Saturday, April 27 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on the Panoway Plaza. The event will feature two educational speakers that will focus on native plants, pollinators, and pollinator-friendly lawns. A drawing for a free rain barrel and composting bin will be held near the end of the event. Additional educational materials will be available along with examples of electric lawn care equipment. Let's come together to appreciate, learn, and contribute to the growth and sustainability of our urban forest and lawns!

Bushaway Road (Co Rd 101) Overnight Closure on April 30The City of Wayzata’s Utility Department will be closing the road to safely perform routine maintenance of the City’s sanitary sewer collection system. Bushaway Road (Co Rd 101), will be closed overnight starting at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, April 30. The road will be closed between McGinty Road (Co Rd 16) and Wayzata Blvd (Co Rd 101) during this time. The road will re-open to through-traffic by 6:00 a.m. the following morning. During the road closure, residents and emergency vehicles will have access to driveways, however there will be utility workers and utility vehicles in the roadway. The workers need to access the manholes in the roadway to inspect the manholes and pipes and ensure that the sanitary sewer collection system is in good condition and free of blockages. You Might See Mosquito Control Helicopters and Trucks This MonthThe Metropolitan Mosquito Control District (MMCD) will be conducting surveillance and treatment activities in Wayzata to reduce the risk of disease and annoyance in an environmentally-sensitive manner. Each year field staff at MMCD monitors and treats wetlands that breed mosquitoes with a fleet of trucks and helicopters. You may notice green or white trucks with the MMCD logo or staff on bikes or on foot wearing brightly colored “Mosquito Control” shirts. At times MMCD employees may need to cross private property for access to check and treat areas for mosquito larvae. If you have questions about mosquito control activities or concerns about an employee, please call the MMCD front desk at 651-645-9149 or visit MMCD.org.

Hydrant Flushing Began Last WeekThe Wayzata Public Works Department has begun flushing water mains and fire hydrants. This process will ensure that all fire hydrants are operating properly. If you notice discolored water in your home, run the cold-water faucets until water runs clear. Be observant while washing clothes until after the flushing period. Hennepin County Commissioner District 6 Special Primary Election on April 30The Hennepin County Commissioner District 6 seat is vacant as the result of the resignation of Commissioner Chris LaTondresse whose last day on the board was Sept. 21, 2023. Wayzata is represented by Hennepin County District 6. A Special Election will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 for this vacancy. Absentee voting – April 12–29 for Special Primary Election: - Vote absentee in-person at Wayzata City Hall or vote by mail

Bell Courts Closed for ConstructionBell Courts are now closed for reconstruction. The project includes reconstructing the courts to add four pickleball courts while keeping two tennis courts. Spring Clean-Up on May 4The City will provide a curbside pickup of household items, appliances, and electronics for residential customers who pay for recycling and garbage service on their monthly utility bills. The pickup is scheduled for 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024. For larger items, you must call Randy’s Environmental Services at 763-972-3335 before 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2 to arrange for pick up and payment. Arbor Month Celebration on May 18The City of Wayzata is excited to announce an Arbor Month celebration, scheduled for Saturday, May 18 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on the Panoway Plaza! Begin the day by volunteering in City gardens from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. for the annual Dig It Day. Sign up at wayzata.org/volunteer. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. Following the volunteer portion, all are welcome from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to celebrate Arbor Month. Activities will include a free potted plant giveaway for residents, registration for the Champion Tree Contest, and a program led by guest arborist, Manuel Jordan.

Community Development163 Wayzata Blvd W – Meridian Manor Redevelopment The applicant, TMSC, has applied to teardown and replace the existing Meridian Manor building at 163 Wayzata Blvd W. The proposal requires multiple approvals. The Planning Commission will consider the application at their April 22 meeting. 620 Bushaway Road – AdditionOwners Gary and Karen Kirt have applied to create an addition to the existing home at 620 Bushaway Road. They would also remove the existing detached garage, reconfigure the driveway, and add a boathouse. The proposal requires setback variances. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the application by a 4-1 vote on March 11. The City Council will consider the application at their May 7 meeting.
